Dr. Seuss is one of our very favorite authors. Today is his special day. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! His beloved read-alouds always seem to draw in anyone within earshot. I often begin to read to one child to find that all four are snuggled up listening by the time I finish. That’s the sign of a good book! This year I’m especially awed by Dr. Seuss because he sparked the interest within my reluctant reader to learn how to read. Now she’s a little bookworm and I’ve listened to her read so many of his books within the past year that I’m just a tad sentimental over here!
Did you know that Dr. Seuss is actually pronounced Dr. Zoice? This fun fact is brought to you courtesy of Abby. Now you know. We’ve been messing it up this whole time!
Well, Seuss or Zoice…however your name is pronounced…you changed what learning to read looks like for children everywhere and still teach mine to embrace creativity even today. I am grateful. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
